Full Definition

غَبِىٌّ Having little, or no, intel-ligence: or one who does not understand deceit, or guile, and the like: or unmindful, forgetful, neglectful, heedless, or inadvertent: and ignorant: pl. أَغْبِيَآءُ and أَغْبِيَآءٌ: accord. to J and others, it belongs to this art.; but Aboo-'Alee derives it from شَجَرَةٌ غَبْيَآءُ, [see أَغْبَى in art. غبى,] as though his ignorance hid from him to whom it is applied what is plainly apparent to others.
