Full Definition

غَارَI , and غار لَهُمْ, Present.T يَغِيرُ, Verbal.Noun غِيَارٌ and غَيْرٌ, i. q. مَارَهُمْ, i. e. He brought, or conveyed, to his family, مِيرَة [or a provision of corn, or wheat, &c.] [See also art. غور.]
2 And He benefited them. 'AbdMenáf Ibn-Riba El-Hudhalee says مَا ذَا يَغِيرُ ٱبْنَتَىْ رِبْعٍ عَوِيلُهُمَا [What will their loud weeping benefit, or avail, the two daughters of Riba?] meaning that their weeping for their father will not avail them aught in lieu of seeking his blood-revenge. You say غَارَهُمْ بِخَيْرٍ, Present.T and Verbal.Noun as above, He bestowed upon them abundance of the produce of the earth, and rain; (TA in art. غور;) like as you say أَعْطَاهُمْ خَيْرًا: and so غارهم بِرِزْقِ [He bestowed upon them means of subsistence]. And اَللّٰهُمَّ غِرْنَا بِخَيْرٍ O God, benefit us with prosperity. And غَارَهُمْ بِمَطَرٍ He watered them with rain, and bestowed upon them abundance of the produce of the earth. And غَارَ الأَرْضَ الغَيْثُ The rain watered the land. [See also art. غور.]

def.2 غَارَهُ, Present.T يَغِيرُهُ, Verbal.Noun غَيْرٌ, He gave him the bloodwit; as also غارهُ, Present.T يَغُورُهُ; مِنْ أَخِيهِ [for his brother]: and so غيّرهُ . [See غِيرَةٌ.]

def.3 غَارَ عَلَى أَهْلِهِ, or على ٱمْرَأَتِهِ, Present.T يَغَارُ, Verbal.Noun غَيْرَةٌ, with fet-h, and غَيْرٌ and غَارٌ and غِيَارٌ, [He was jealous of his wife:] he was jealous for her (مِنْ فُلَانٍ of such a one: Mgh): [he was careful of her, to avoid suspicion: or he regarded her conduct with disdain, scorn, or indignation: (see غَيْرَةٌ, below:) or] he was angry at the conduct, or action, of his wife. And غَارَتِ ٱمْرَأَتُهُ عَلَيْهِ [His wife was jealous of him: &c.]. [See also art. غور.] And you say also, فُلَانٌ لَا عَلَى أَهْلِهِ, meaning لَا يَغَارُ [Such a one is not jealous of his wife: &c.].
