فِنْطاسٌ

Full Definition

فِنْطاسٌ [The bottom of the hold of a ship or boat; i. e.] the part of a ship or boat where the water that is drawn out therefrom collects: this is the primary signification: pl. فَنَاطِيسُ.
2 Hence, A tank made of boards, and tarred, borne in sea-going vessels, and containing sweet water for drinking.
3 And, accord. to IAar, A bowl of wood, the exterior of which is coloured with yellow and red and green, with which the sweet water is distributed among the ship's crew.
