Full Definition

فِيقَةٌ , originally فِوْقَةٌ, the و having become ى because of the kesreh before it, The milk that collects in the udder between two milkings: and سراج [or this is a mistake for اِبْن السَّرَّاج] has mentioned فَيْقَةٌ النَّاقَةِ, with fet-h: but ISd says, “ I know not how that is: ” pl. فِيقٌ [or rather this is a coll. gen. n. and فَاقَةٌ is its n. un.,] and فِيقٌ and فيقَاتٌ and أَفْوَاقٌ, [a pl. of pauc.,] or this may be pl. of the pl. فِيَقٌ. and أَفَاوِيقَ, which is a pl. pl. [or pl. of أَفْوَاقٌ]. [See also عُرَاكَةٌ.]

3 أَفَاوِيقُ also signifies The water that has collected in the clouds and then falls in rain.
4 Also, i. e. أَفَاوِيقُ, The greater part of the night: so in the saying, خَرَجنَا بَعْدَ أَفَاوِيقَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ We went forth] after the greater part of the night had passed: or, accord. to Th, after pertions (أَقْطَاع) of the night.
5 فِيقَةُ الصُّحَى means The period of the [early portion of the forenoon called the] ضحى when the sun has become high: or, accord. to Z, the first part of the ضحى.
