Full Definition

قَلَاI He fried wheat; i. e. roasted it in a مَقْلَى [or frying-pan or roasting-pan].
2 قَلَى with يَقْلَى for its Present.T: see أَبَى.
3 هُوَ يَقْلُو البُرَّ: see بَرَى.
4 قَلَى He roasted in a frying-pan flesh-meat or anything: and شَوَى signifies the same. قَلَى البُرَّ بِالمِقْلَى and المِقْلاَةِ means شَوَاهُ [i. e. he parched, or roasted, the wheat with the مقلى]. The Present.T is يَقْلِى and يَقْلُو, and the Verbal.Noun قَلْىٌ and قَلْوٌ.
