Full Definition

قَوْصَرَّةٌ , and قَوْصَرَةٌ, without teshdeed, A receptacle for dates, or for dried dates, in which they are stored, made of mats, of reeds: in common conventional language only so called as long as it contains dates: otherwise it is called زَبِيلٌ: thought by IDrd to be not Arabic; and he doubts respecting the authenticity of a verse in which it is mentioned, ascribed to 'Alee: pl. قَوَاصِرُ: (K, art. كنز; &c.:) the dim. is قُوَيْصِرَّةٌ and قُوَيْصِرَةٌ.
2 A woman, or wife; as also قَارُورَةٌ [q. v.].
