2 Respecting this word in the following verse of TaäbbataSharran, إِذَا الحَرْبُ أَوْلَتْكَ الكَلِيبَ فَوَلِّهَا كَلِيبَكَ وَٱعْلَمْ أَنَّهَا سَوْفَ تَنْجَلِى [When war sets over thee &c.] there are two opinions: one, that by كليب is meant مُكَالِب : the other, that it is an Verbal.Noun of كَلِبَتِ الحَرْبُ [“ The war became vehement, severe, or fierce ”]: the former is the more valid.
