Full Definition

مِخْرَفٌ The thing in which fruits are gathered; called by the Arabs خَافَةٌ: a [basket of the kind called] مِكْتَل, or زِنْبِيل, of small size, in which the best fresh ripe dates are gathered: pl. مَخَارِفُ. One says, خَرَجُوا إِلَى المَخَارِفِ بالمَخَارِفِ, i. e. They went forth to the gardens with the baskets (زُبُل) [for gathering fruit].
2 And hence, The basket (زنبيل) in which the importunate beggar puts his food.
