مَخْطٌI
, [an Verbal.Noun, of which the verb is app. مَخَطَ,] the act of flowing; and of going, coming, or passing, out, or forth: this is the primary signification; and hence مُخَاطٌ, q. v.
2 [Hence also,] مَخَطَ السَّهْمُ, Present.T ـَ and ـُ Verbal.Noun مُخُوطٌ, The arrow transpierced, and went forth on the other side.
3 [And] مَخَطَ بِهِ الجَمَلُ The camel went quickly with him.
4 [And] مَخَطَ فِى الأَرْضِ, Verbal.Noun مَخْطٌ, He went away quickly in the land.
def.2 مَخَطَ الصَّبِىَّ, Verbal.Noun مَخْطٌ, He wiped the nose of the child; and in like manner you say of a lamb or kid: and مخّطهُ , Verbal.Noun تَمْخِيطٌ, he removed the mucus from out of his nose: and he wiped off from its nose what was upon it [at the time of the birth]. And مَخَطَ المُخَاطَ He cast the mucus مِنْ أَنْفِهِ from his nose.
2 [And hence,] مَخَطَ السَّيْفَ He drew the sword from its scabbard; as also
: and sometimes they said, امتخط مَا فِى يَدِهِ he pulled out what was in his hand; he seized, took away quickly by force, or snatched away, what was in his hand: and امتخط رُمْحَهُ مِنْ مَرْكَزِهِ he pulled out his spear from its place in which it was stuck.
3 [And] مَخَطَهُ, Present.T ـَ Verbal.Noun مَخْطٌ, He drew it; pulled it. You say, مَخَطَ فِى القَوْسِ [He drew the bow; or drew, or pulled, its string with the arrow].
