Full Definition

مَسْحَةٌ , or مِسْحَةٌ , Upon such a one there appears somewhat of beauty; or, some sign, or mark, or trait, of beauty: and مسحةُ كَرَمٍ, some sign, or mark, trait, or indication, of nobility; and the like: a mode of expression said, by Sh, to be used only in praise; so that you do not say عَلَيْهِ مسحةُ قُبْحٍ: but you say also بِهِ مسحةٌ مِنْ هُزَالٍ in him is somewhat, or some sign, or mark, of leanness; which is a phrase of the Arabs mentioned by Az.
