مَغَثَI , Present.T ـُ Verbal.Noun مَغْثٌ, He steeped, soaked, or macerated, a thing in water, and rubbed it with the fingers; he steeped it in water, and mashed it with the hand; he steeped, and mashed with the hand, medicine in water; syn. مَرَثَ.
2 مَغَثَ المَطَرُ الكَلَأَ Verbal.Noun مَغْثٌ, The rain fell upon the herbage, and rendered it yellow, and bad-tasted, and laid it prostrate.
3 مَغَثَ, [Present.T ـُ] He submerged, or immersed, him, or it, in water.
4 مُغِثَ He was affected by a fever.
5 مَغَثَتْهُ الحُمَّى The fever attacked him; or pained him.
6 مَغَثُوهُ, [Present.T ـُ] Verbal.Noun مَغَثٌ, They beat him lightly, as though they shook him about (كَأَنَّهُمْ تَلْتَلُوهُ).
7 مَغَثَ عِرْضَهُ, (Verbal.Noun مَغْثٌ, K,) He defamed him; disgraced him; dishonoured him; aspersed him by reviling.
8 مَغَثَهُمْ بِشَرٍّ He did evil to them.
