Full Definition

هَدَجَI , Present.T ـِ Verbal.Noun هَدَجَانٌ and هُدَاجٌ and هَدْجٌ, He walked gently, in a weak manner: or he walked in the manner of an old man; and the like: or he walked with short steps: or walked hastily, without desiring to do so: or he walked with unintermitting steps: or he walked in a shaking manner, by reason of old age.
2 هَدَجَ, Present.T ـِ Verbal.Noun هَدَجَانٌ; and ; He walked, or went, in a tremulous manner.
3 هَدَجَتِ القِدْرُ The cooking-pot boiled vehemently.
4 هَدَجَتْ, Verbal.Noun هَدَجٌ, She yearned towards her young one; حَنَّتْ عَلَى وَلَدِهَا; as also تهدّجت ; [and, app., uttered the cry produced by yearning towards her young one: see below:] or the latter signifies she was affectionate to her young one.
5 Also, Verbal.Noun as above, It made a sound; syn. حَنَّتْ and صَوَّتَتْ; from هدجت النّاقة.
