2 وَاعَدَهُ فَوَعَدَهُ He vied with him in promising, and surpassed him therein, by promising more.
3 وَاعَدهُ الوقْتَ, and المَوْضِعَ, [He appointed with him the time, and the place]. أَوْعَدَنِى مَوْعِدًا is a vulgar mistake.
