Full Definition

شَطَنَI , [Present.T ـُ] Verbal.Noun شُطُونٌ, He was, or became, distant, or remote, عَنْهُ [from him, or it]. And شَطَنَتِ الدَّارُ, Present.T as above, and so the Verbal.Noun, The abode, or dwelling, was distant, or remote.
2 And He was, or became, remote, or far, from the truth, and from the mercy of God.
3 And شَطَنَ فِى الأَرْضِ, Verbal.Noun as above, It entered into the earth, either رَاسِخًا [app. as meaning becoming firmly fixed therein], or وَاغِلًا [app. as meaning penetrating, and becoming concealed].

def.2 شَطَنَهُ, Present.T ـُ Verbal.Noun شَطْنٌ, He turned away in opposition to him from his design, or aim, or his direction that he was pursuing, and his way, or course; expl. by the words خَالَفَهُ عَنْ نِيَّتِهِ وَوَجْهِهِ.
