Full Definition
أَجْرَدُ
A man having no hair upon him; i. e., upon his body; or except in certain parts, as the line along the middle of the bosom and downwards to the belly, and the arms from the elbows downwards, and the legs from the knees downwards; contr. of
أَشْعَرُ, which signifies “having hair upon the whole of the body:” [fem. جَرْدَآءُ: and] pl. جُرْدٌ. The people of Paradise are said to be جُرْدٌ مُرْدٌ [Having no hair upon their bodies, and beardless].
2 Also applied to a horse, and any similar beast, meaning Having short hair: or having short and fine hair. This is approved, and is one of the signs of an excellent and a generous origin. Pl. as above. In like manner, أَجْرَدُ القَوَائِمِ means Having short, or short and fine, hair upon the legs.
3 Also A check upon which no hair has grown. And A sandal upon which is no hair.
4 Applied also to a place; and the fem., جَرْدَآءُ, to land: see جَرِدٌ, in three places.
5 Also Milk free from froth. And the fem., Wine that is clear, free from dregs. And A sky free from clouds.
6 Smooth.
7 A heart free from concealed hatred, and from deceit, dishonesty, or dissimulation.
8 Complete; free from deficiency; as also
جَرِيدٌ ; applied to a year (عَامٌ), and to a month, and to a day: fem. as above, applied to a year (سَنَةٌ). Accord. to Ks, you say, مَا رَأَيْتُهُ مُذْ
أَجْرَدَانِ and
مذ , meaning [I have not seen him, or it, for, or during,] two days, or two months, [or two years,] complete.
9 A horse wont to outstrip others; that outstrips others, and becomes separate from them by his swiftness.
10 And the fem., A voracious she-camel.
