Full Definition

أَرْقَبُ and رَقَبَانِىٌّ , the latter irregular as a rel. n., and رَقَبَانٌ , applied to a man, Thick, or large, in the رَقَبَة [or neck, &c.]: the fem. [of the first] is رَقْبَآءُ, applied to a female slave, not applied to a free woman, nor does one say رَقَبَانِيَّةٌ.
2 الأَرْقَبُ is also [an epithet] applied to The lion; because of the thickness of his رَقَبة.
