2 افلت said of a mare, and of a she-ass, means She was one whose colt had attained to the age for his being weaned, And the phrase قَدْ أَفْلَيْنَ أَمْهَارَا, ending a verse of 'Adee Ibn-Zeyd, and referring to wild animals, means, as expl. by AHn, that had become in the state in which their young ones were full-grown and in no need of their mothers.
