أَمْجَدَIV

2 نَزَلُوا بِهِمْ فَأَمْجَدُوهُمْ [They alighted at their abode as guests, and they entertained them honourably].
3 امجد وَلَدَهُ, and لِوَلَدِهِ, He chose [noble or generous] mothers [whereon to beget his children; and thus caused his children to be noble or generous].
4 أَمْجَدَنَا فُلَانٌ قِرًى Such a one gave us a sufficient and superabundant entertainment.
5 امجدهُ سَبًّا وَذَمًّا He reviled and dispraised him much.
6 امجد الإِبِلَ; and مجّدها , Verbal.Noun تَمْجِيدٌ; and ; He filled the camels bellies with fodder, and satiated them: or he fed the camels upon abundant pasturage: or he satiated the camels: or he fed them upon herbage so as nearly to satiate them, in the beginning of the [season called] رَبِيع: or he half-filled their bellies with fodder: the people of El-'Áliyeh say, مَجَدَ النَّاقَةَ, or الدَّابَّةَ, Present.T ـُ Verbal.Noun مَجْدٌ, he filled the belly of the she-camel, or of the beast of carriage, with fodder: and the people of Nejd, مجّدها , Verbal.Noun تَمْجِيدٌ, he half-filled her belly with fodder: and امجد الدَّابَّةٌ He gave the beast of carriage much fodder.
