Full Definition

اِتَّسَعَVIII It became free from straitness, or unstraitened.
2 اِتَّسَعَ عَيْشُهُ [His means, or circumstances, of life became ample, or plentiful]. (Msb, art. نعم.)
3 اِتَّسَعَ It widened, became wide, dilated, or expanded.
4 اِتَّسَعَ بَطْنُهُ His belly became wide, or distended.
5 اِتَّسَعَ لِأَمْرٍ He was capable of doing a thing. An instance occurs in the TA, voce أَوْهَبَ.
6 اِتِّسَاعُ البِئْرِ i. q. جِرَابُهَا [The interior of the well]. (K, art. جرب.) See also 5, in art. عقد.
7 اِتَّسَعَ الخَرْقُ عَلَى الرَّاقِعِ The hole was wide to the pitcher: see خَرْقٌ.
8 اِتِّسَاعٌ Extension of the signification of a word or phrase: an amplification.
