Full Definition

اصطخبواVIII and They clamoured; or raised loud, or vehement, cries, or clamours, [or confused noises,] and beat one another, or contended together in beating or in fight. A poet says, إِنَّ الضَّفَادِعَ فِى الغُدْرَانِ تَصْطَخِبُ [Verily the frogs make a loud and confused croaking in the pools of water left by the torrents]. And one says, سَمِعْتُ ٱصْطِخَابَ الطَّيْرِ i. e. [I heard] the confused cries, or voices, of the birds. (K. [See also صَخَبٌ.])
2 And [hence,] اِصْطَخَبَتْ أَمْوَاجُ الوَادِى [The waves of the valley, or torrent-bed, flowing with water, dashed together, making a loud and confused sound].
