Full Definition

اطالIV , as trans.: see 2, in five places.

def.2 اطالت المَرْأَةُ The woman brought forth tall children, or a tall child. It is said in a trad., or in a prov., not a trad., but IAth declares it to be a trad., and in the trads. of the Prophet are many celebrated provs., إِنَّ القَصِيرَةَ قَدْ تُطِيلُ [Verily the short woman sometimes brings forth tall children], وَإِنَّ قَدْ تُقْصِرُ [and verily the tall woman sometimes brings forth short children].
