Full Definition

اعتمّVIII and and , or اعتمّ بِالعِمَامَةِ and بِهَا, He attired himself with the turban: and is also expl. as meaning he attired himself with the helmet: or, with the garments of war.
2 And [hence] one says, اِعْتَمَّتِ الآكَامُ بِالنَّبَاتِ and [The hills became crowned with plants, or herbage]. And بِهَا رُؤُوسُ الجِبَالِ [The heads of the mountains became crowned with its light]: referring to the sun, when its light has fallen upon the heads of the mountains and become to them like the turban.
3 And اعتمّ اللَّبَنُ: see 2, last sentence.
4 And اعتمّ النَّبتُ The plant, or herbage, became of its full height, and blossomed, syn. اِكْتَهَلَ, and طَالَ; and became luxuriant, or abundant and dense: like اغتمّ. (TA in art. غم.)
5 And اعتمّ الشَّابُّ The youth, or young man, became tall.
6 And اعتمّ is said of a beast of the bovine kind as meaning He had all his teeth grown. (As, TA. [See عَمَمٌ and عَضْبٌ.])
