Full Definition

اقبسهُIV He gave him a قَبَس [a brand, or burning stick, or burning piece of fire-wood]: or he gave him fire: and he brought him fire: and اقبسهُ نَارًا he gave him fire; as also نَارًا.
2 [Hence,] اقبسهُ He taught him: and اقبسهُ عِلْمًا, and خَيْرًا, he taught him knowledge, and good; as also عِلْمًا, and خَيْرًا: the latter verb is sometimes thus used; or is allowable: or only the former: [but it seems to be indicated in the TA, that you say. خَيْرًا as meaning he brought him good:] and you say also مَالًا [app. meaning he gave him property].
