التفت

Root: لفت

Form: 8

Full Definition

التفتVIII and تلفّت , [He looked aside, or about,] the latter of which signifies more than the former, are from لَفَتَهُ عَنْ رَأْيِهِ: you say, التفت إِلَى الشَّىْءِ, and تلفّت إِلَيْهِ, He turned his face towards the thing.
2 [Hence, ما التفت إِلَيْهِ He regarded not him or it; he paid no regard, or attention, to him or it. ]
3 التفت بِوَجْهِهِ يَمِينًا وَشِمَالًا He turned his face to the right and left.
