الجَفَلَى

Full Definition

الجَفَلَى , and , which latter was unknown to As, I invited them to my feast, or food, in common, without distinction, or with their company and commonalty. And دُعِىَ فُلَانٌ فِى النَّقَرَى لَا فِى الجَفَلَى, and , Such a one was invited among the distinguished persons, not among the commonalty. And دَعْوَةٌ جَفَلَى A general invitation; contr. of دَعْوَةٌ نَقَرَى. And جَآءَ القَوْمُ, , and أَزْفَلَةً, The people came in a company; and , and أَزْفَلَتِهِمْ, with their company. Accord. to some, أَجْفَلَى signifies A collection, or an assemblage, of any things; as also أَزْفَلَى: and جُفَّالَةٌ , or جُفَالَةٌ , a company, or an assembly, of men, going along quickly.
