العَبُورَ
[The star Sirius;] a certain bright star; one of the
شِعْرَيَانِ, which [in the order of rising] is after, or behind, [in the TA, erroneously, “ with, ”] الجَوْزَآء [here meaning Gemini]: called العبور because of its having crossed the Milky Way. [See also الشِّعْرَى in art. شعر.
