المُقْتَضَبُ

Full Definition

المُقْتَضَبُ A certain metre of verse, the thirteenth, consisting of فَاعِلَاتُ مُفْتَعِلُنْ, twice; originally مَفْعُولَاتُ مُسْتَفْعِلُنْ: so called as though it were the مُنْسَرِح with a foot, namely, مستفعلن, cut off.
2 مُقْتَضَبٌ applied to verse, or poetry, and a writing, means Extemporized.
3 And مُقْتَضَبٌ فِى عَمَلٍ means Untrained in a work; or tasked to do it before he can do it well.
