اليَمِينُ

Root: يمن

Full Definition

اليَمِينُ The location that is on the right.
2 يَمِينٌ also, The south. See سَرْحٌ.
3 يَمِينُ also signifies A covenant confirmed by an oath. يَمِينُ ٱللّٰهِ The oath by attestation of God: see أَيْمُ ٱللّٰهِ, and عَهْدُ ٱللّٰهِ.
4 حَلَفْتُ يَمِينًا [I swore, or have sworn, an oath]. (T, S, M, voce أَمِينٌ, which see. You say, يَمِينَ ٱللّٰهِ لَا أَفْعلُ (as in some copies of the S [meaning, حَلَفْتُ يَمِينَ ٱللّٰهِ]): or يَمِينُ ٱللّٰهِ (as in other copies [meaning, يَمِينُ ٱللّٰهِ قَسَمِى]). See a similar form of oath voce حَرَامٌ.
5 يَمِينًا صَادِقَةً لَأَفْعَلَنَّ: see زَعْمةٌ.
