Full Definition

اندلقVII It came forth from its scabbard without being drawn: or became loose, and so came forth, and came forth quickly: and in like manner, its scabbard became slit, or it slit its scabbard, so that it came forth from it: or it fell from its scabbard, and came forth, without being drawn; and so دَلَقَ , Verbal.Noun دُلُوقٌ and دَلْقٌ: which also signifies it came forth, or issued, from its place of egress quickly: and [in like manner] the former verb signifies it came forth, or issued, from its place: it came forth, or issued, or fell out. You say, طَعَنَهُ فَٱنْدَلَقَتْ أَقْتَابُ بَطْنِهِ He pierced him, and the intestines of his belly came forth. And اندلقت الخَيْلُ The horses, or horsemen, came forth, or issued, and hastened: and الخَيْلُ The horses, or horsemen, came forth, or issued, consecutively, or uninterruptedly.
2 It came suddenly, or unawares, عَلَى قَوْمٍ upon a people, or party: or rushed, or became impelled, or poured forth as though impelled, عَلَيْهِمٌ upon them; as also تدلّق : or came, or advanced: and [in like manner] دَلَقَ عَلَيْهِمٌ.
3 He preceded: or went before and away. You say, اِنْدَلَقَ مِنْ بَيْنِ أَصْحَابِهِ He went before and away from among his companions.
4 It was, or became, flabby and prominent; said of a belly; or, accord. to Naseer, said of the belly of a woman, like اندلع, meaning it became large and flabby. (TA in art. دلع.)
5 It shut again (اِنْصَفَقَ) when opened; would not remain open.
