Full Definition

انقضبVII It was, or became, cut, or cut off; and so تقضّب [but app. in an intensive sense or said of a number of things].
2 And [hence] He became cut off, or separated, from his companions.
3 And, said of a star, It darted down from its place. Dhu-r-Rummeh says, describing a wild bull [i. e. a bovine antelope], كَأَنَّهُ كَوْكَبٌ فِى إِثْرِ عِفْرِيَةٍ مُسَوَّمٌ فِى سَوَادِ اللَّيْلِ [As though he were a star launched forth in the darkness of night, darting down after an evil demon].
