أَوِدَI , Present.T يَأْوَدُ, Verbal.Noun أَوَدٌ, It was, or became, of itself, crooked, curved, or bent. [See also 5.]

def.2 آدَ, Present.T يَؤُودُ, Verbal.Noun أَوْدٌ, It receded, in the evening.

4 آدَتِ الظِّلَالِ The shadows returned, and inclined towards the east.
5 آدَ عَلَيْهِ He inclined towards him; or pitied him.

def.3 آدَهُ, first pers. أُدْتُهُ, or أُدتُّهُ, (K, TA, [in the CK, erroneously, اِدتُّهُ,]) Present.T يَؤُودُ, Verbal.Noun أَوْدٌ, He crooked, curved, or bent, it; i. e., a stick, or other thing; as also .
2 آدَهُ, Present.T يَؤُودُ, Verbal.Noun أَوْدٌ and أُوُودٌ, It oppressed him by its weight; pressed heavily upon him; burdened him. And It oppressed, distressed, or afflicted, him: and [in like manner] , or تآودهُ , as also تآداهُ, the last formed by transposition from the second, or first, said of an affair, it pressed heavily upon him; oppressed him. You say, مَا آدَكَ فَهْوَ لِى آئِدٌ What hath burdened [or distressed] thee, it is burdening [or distressing] to me.
