Full Definition

آمٌّ [act. part. n. of 1;] i. q. قَاصِدٌ: [see 1, first sentence:] pl. إِمَامٌ, like as صِحَابٌّ is pl. of صَاحِبٌ, accord. to some, but others say that this is pl. of إِمَامٌ [q. v.; the sing. and pl. being alike]; and آمُّونَ. Hence, in the Kur [v. 2], وَلَا آمِّينَ الْبَيْتَ الْحَرَامَ [Nor those repairing to the Sacred House].
