Full Definition

بَرَآءٌ : see بَرِىْءٌ, in six places.
2 البَرَآءٌ The first night of the [lunar] month; called thus, or لَيْلَةُ البَرَآءِ, because the moon has then become clear of the sun: or the first day of the month: or the last night thereof: or the last day thereof; a fortunate day; every event happening therein being regarded as a means of obtaining a blessing; but most hold that the last day of the month is termed النَّحِيرَةٌ; as also اِبْنُ البَرَآءِ: or this is the first day of the month: pl. أَبْرِئَةٌ.
