2 تَخفّربِهِ also signifies He had recourse to him for refuge, protection, or preservation; sought his protection; asked him to be his خَفِير [or protector]; and so خَفَرَهُ ; [and , occurring in the S, in art. قوب:] he protected, or defended, himself by means of him; syn. اِحْتَمَى بِهِ.
