ترأّسV He became made, or appointed, head, chief, commander, governor, ruler, lord, master, prince, or king, over the people; as also عَلَيْهِمْ: or both signify [like رَأَسَ على القوم,] he was, or became, رَئِيس [i. e. head, chief, &c.] over the people.
