Full Definition

تزيّلواV , Verbal.Noun تَزَيُّلٌ and تَزْيِيلٌ , the latter [irreg., being properly Verbal.Noun of 2,] of the dial. of El-Hijáz, mentioned by Lh; and تزايلوا , Verbal.Noun تَزَايُلٌ; i. q. تَفَرَّقُوا [i. e. They became separated much, or greatly, or widely; or became dispersed: or rather, the former verb, being quasi-pass. of 2, has this meaning; and the latter verb, as quasi-pass. of 3, means simply they became separated, one from another]: [for] signifies التَّبَايُنُ: تزيّلوا is syn. with تَمَيَّزُوا: thus in the Kur [xlviii. 25], where it is said, لَوْ تَزَيَّلُوا لَعَذَّبْنَا ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا [Had they been widely separated, one from another, we had assuredly punished those who disbelieved]: and some here read .
