Full Definition

ثَجَّI , Present.T ثَجِجَ Verbal.Noun ثَجٌّ, or ثَجِيجٌ, or ثُجُوجٌ, It flowed: or poured forth vehemently, or much: or, as some say, it poured forth: and and signify the same. ثَجٌّ also signifies The flowing of the blood of a victim brought for sacrifice to the sacred territory of Mekkeh.

def.2 ثَجَّهُ, Present.T ثَجُجَ Verbal.Noun ثَجٌّ, He made it to flow; poured it forth; namely, water, and blood of a victim for sacrifice; as also ; and may also be used in the same sense. Hence, أَفْضَلُ الحَجِّ العَجُّ والثَّجُّ, a saying of Mohammad, meaning The most excellent of the actions of the pilgrimage are the raising of the voice in the تَلْبِيَة [see 2 in art. لبى] and the shedding of the blood of the victims brought for sacrifice to the sacred territory.
