Full Definition

ثَلَّI , Present.T ثَلُلَ Verbal.Noun ثَلٌّ, He put [or poured] back the earth into a grave, and a well, after digging it: or he poured the earth into a well, &c.
2 Also, Present.T as above, and so the Verbal.Noun, He poured forth pieces of money.
3 Also, Present.T and Verbal.Noun as above; and ثَلْثَلَ ; He moved, or put in motion, with his hand, or he broke at one of its sides, [app. so as to make it pour down, or fall,] a quantity of earth collected together, or a sand-heap, or a house: or he dug it.
4 And the former, Present.T as above, and so the Verbal.Noun, He threw down, or demolished, a house, by digging beneath the wall, and then pushing, so that it fell in ruins: and he demolished, and broke, a thing.
5 [Hence,] ثَلَّ ٱللّٰهُ عَرْشَهُمْ God destroyed their dominion: and ثُلَّ عَرْشُهُمْ Their might, or power, departed: or ثَلَّ ٱللّٰهُ عَرْشَهُ God caused him to die; or caused his dominion, or his might, or power, to depart: and ثُلَّ عَرْشُهُ, Verbal.Noun ثَلٌّ, His means of support became destroyed, and ceased; or he became abased, or in an abject condition; or, accord. to Er-Rághib, it means أُسْقِطَتْ ثلّة مِنْهُ [perhaps a company of men (ثُلَّةٌ) was made to fall away from him]: El-'Otbee says that عرش here has two meanings; namely, a throne, and a booth, or shed, constructed for shade. (TA. See art. عرش.) You say also, ثُلَّ عَرْشُهُ and عُرْشُهُ, meaning He was slain: and a poet says, of a sword, ثَلَّ عُرْشَيْهِ, meaning [It severed] the base of his neck; the part where his neck was set on his back.
6 And ثَلَّ, Present.T as above, Verbal.Noun ثَلٌّ and ثَلَلٌ, He killed, or destroyed, a man, or men. And ثُلَّ He died, or perished.
7 ثَلَّ البِئْرَ, Present.T ثَلُلَ Verbal.Noun ثَلٌّ, He took, or cast, forth the earth from the well; and the mud from the bottom of the well.
8 ثَلَّ الوِعَآءَ, Present.T and Verbal.Noun as in the next preceding case, He took what was in the receptacle; as also ; the latter from Ibn- 'Abbád.

def.2 ثَلَّتِ الدَّابَّةُ, and ثَلَّ الحَافِرُ, Present.T ثَلُلَ [irregularly], Verbal.Noun ثَلٌّ, The beast, and the solid-hoofed animal, dunged.
2 And ثَلَّ He became rich, or in a state of competence.
