Full Definition

ثَابَI , Present.T يَثُوبُ, Verbal.Noun ثَوْبٌ and ثَوَبَانٌ and ثُؤُوبٌ, He, or it, returned; as also ثوّب , Verbal.Noun تَثْوِيبٌ: he returned to a place to which he had come before; or it returned &c.: he returned, after he had gone away. You say, تَفَرَّقُوا ثُمَّ ثَابُوا i. e. [They became separated, or dispersed: then] they returned.
2 ثاب إِلَى ٱللّٰهِ, like تَابَ, He returned [from disobedience] to obedience to God; he repented; as also أَنَابَ.
3 ثاب also signifies He returned to a state of advertency, or vigilance; or he had his attention roused.
4 Also He returned to a state of health, or soundness: he became convalescent, and fat, after leanness. And ثاب جِسْمُهُ, Verbal.Noun ثَوَبَانٌ; and اثاب جِسْمُهُ; and ثاب إِلَيْهِ جِسْمُهُ; and اثاب , alone; He became fat, after leanness; his good state of body returned to him; his condition of body became good, after extenuation; and health, or soundness, thereof returned to him.
5 ثاب إِلَيْهِ عَقْلُهُ [His reason, or intellect, returned to him]: and حِلْمُهُ [his forbearance, or clemency].
6 ثاب المَآءُ The water of a well returned, or collected again: the water attained again its former state after some had been drawn: the water collected [again] in a wateringtrough, or tank.
7 ثاب النَّاسُ The people collected themselves together, and came. And ثاب القَوْمُ The company of men came following one another: the verb is not used in this sense in speaking of one person.
8 ثاب said of a man's property, It became abundant, and collected.
9 Said of dust, It rose, or spread, or diffused itself, and became abundant.
10 Said of a watering-trough, or tank, Verbal.Noun ثَوْبٌ and ثَوَبَانٌ and ثُؤُوبٌ, It became full: or nearly full.
