جَاهِدٌ

Full Definition

جَاهِدٌ [Striving, labouring, or toiling; &c.: see 1. Hence,] سَيْرُنَا جَاهِدٌ [Our journeying is laborious]. (TA in art. اخو.) And جَهْدٌ جَاهِدٌ [Intense labour or exertion, or the like: or severe difficulty or distress &c.]: an intensive expression, like شِعْرٌ شَاعِرٌ and لَيْلٌ لَائِلٌ.
2 Eagerly desiring [food]; longing for [it]: pl. أَجْهَادٌ.
3 غَرْثَانُ جَاهِدٌ Hungry and greedy, leaving no food.
