Full Definition

جَزَّI , Present.T جَزُزَ Verbal.Noun جَزٌّ, and جَزَّةٌ , [but the latter seems to be an Verbal.Noun of un.,] He cut wool, [see حَلَقَ,] and, as some say, other things, or a dense thing, or hair, and dry herbage, and seed-produce, and wheat, and palm-trees, meaning their fruit; as also اجتزّ . You say, الشِّيحَ وَغَيْرَهُ, and , in the sense of جَزَزْتُهُ [I cut the sheeh, a species of wormwood, &c.]. You say also, جَزَزْتُ الكَبْشَ والنَّعْجَةَ, [I shore, or sheared, the ram and the ewe]; but of the she-goat and he-goat you say, حَلَقْتُهُمَا. And جَزَّ النَّخْلَةَ, Present.T جَزُزَ Verbal.Noun جَزٌّ and جَزَازٌ and جِزَازٌ, [like جَذَّ and جَدَّ,] He cut off the fruit of the palm-tree.
