Full Definition

جَزَرَI , Present.T ـِ and sometimes ـُ Verbal.Noun جَزْرٌ, He cut, or cut off, a thing.
2 جَزَرَ, Present.T ـُ [Verbal.Noun as above,] He slaughtered a camel or other animal, and skinned it; as also اجتزر . You say also, جَزَرَ لَهُمْ, meaning He slaughtered for them a camel. And اجتزر القَوْمَ جَزُورًا He slaughtered and skinned for the people a camel.
3 جَزَرَ النَّخْلَ, Present.T ـِ and ـُ Verbal.Noun جَزْرٌ and جَزَارٌ and جِزَارٌ, He cut off the fruit of the palm-trees: or, as some say, he spoiled the palm-trees in fecundating them.
4 And جَزَرَ, Verbal.Noun جَزْرٌ, He gathered honey from the hive.

def.2 جَزَرَ, Present.T ـِ and ـُ Verbal.Noun جَزْرٌ, It sank, and disappeared; became low; or became remote; decreased; went away; flowed away, or retired, from the earth, or land: it ebbed; contr. of مَدَّ; (S, ISd, K; [but in this last sense, only ـِ is authorized by the K, and app. by ISd also, as the Present.T; ]) i. e., retreated, or went back; as also ; or ceased to increase.
