Full Definition

حَدَرَI , Present.T ـُ and ـِ Verbal.Noun حُدُورٌ and حَدْرٌ, He made to descend, or to go down or downwards or down a declivity; sent, let, or put, down, or from a higher to a lower place or position; as also : [or this latter is not chaste; for, accord. to J,] one says, حَدَرَ السَّفِينَةَ he lowered the ship; or sent it to a lower place, or from a higher to a lower part of a river; but one should not say, احدرها. You say also, حَدَرَ الحَجَرَ مِنَ الجَبَلِ He rolled down the stone from the mountain.
2 حَدَرَتْهُمُ السَّنَةُ Dearth, scarcity, or drought, made them to descend [from the desert]; brought them to a descent; brought them, or brought them down, or made them to descend, to the towns, or villages.
3 حَدَرَ اللِّثَامَ عَنْ حَنَكِهِ He turned down the لثام [or muffler] from the part beneath his chin.
4 حَدَرَ الدَّمْعَ, Present.T ـُ and ـِ Verbal.Noun حُدُورٌ and حَدْرٌ, He shed, or let fall, tears; as also حدّرهُ . And العَيْنُ تَحْدُرُ الدَّمْعَ, and تَحْدِرُهُ, Verbal.Noun حَدَرٌ, The eye sheds, or lets fall, tears; or flows with tears. And الدَّمْعُ يَحْدُرُ الكُحْلَ [The tears make the collyrium to flow down].
5 حَدَرَ الدَّوَآءُ بَطْنَهُ, Present.T ـُ Verbal.Noun حَدْرٌ, The medicine made his belly to discharge itself. [And حدّر الطَّمْثَ It caused the menstrual flux to descend: see مُحَدِّرٌ.]

def.2 حَدَرَ, Present.T ـُ and ـِ Verbal.Noun حَدْرٌ; and , Verbal.Noun إِحْدَارٌ; He made the skin to swell, and to become thick, by beating.

def.3 حَدَرَ الثَّوْبَ, Present.T ـُ and ـِ Verbal.Noun حَدْرٌ; and , Verbal.Noun إِحْدَارٌ; He twisted the unwoven warp, or the extremities of the unwoven warp, of the garment, or piece of cloth; like as is done with the ends of [garments of the kind called] أَكْسِيَة [pl. of كِسَآء]: because its length is thus diminished.

2 [Hence,] حَدَرَ فِى القِرَآءَةِ, and فِى الأَذَانِ, and فِى الإِقَامَةِ, Present.T ـُ and ـِ Verbal.Noun حَدْرٌ; and حدّر , Verbal.Noun تَحْدِيرٌ; and حَدَرَ القِرَآءَةَ, and الأَذَانَ, and الإِقَامَةَ; He hastened, or was quick, in the reading, or recitation, and in the call to prayer, and in the [form of words called the] اقامة; and he hastened the reading, or recitation, &c.

def.5 حَدَرَ and حَدُرَ, Verbal.Noun [of the latter, accord. to analogy,] حُدُورَةٌ, It was thick and strong. (TA. [See also حَادِرٌ.])
2 And [hence, app.,] It was, or became, such as is termed حَادِرٌ [q. v.]: [or] حَدُرَ, Present.T ـُ; and حَدَرَ, Present.T ـُ; Verbal.Noun [of the former] حَدَارَةٌ and حَدْرٌ; he was, or became, compact in make, and thick: or short and fleshy: and he was, or became, fat, with thickness, and shortness. (TA. [See حَادِرٌ.])
3 And حَدَرَ, Present.T ـُ and ـِ Verbal.Noun حُدُورٌ and حَدْرٌ; and , Verbal.Noun إِحْدَارٌ; and حدّر , Verbal.Noun تَحْدِيرٌ; or tho first form only; It became swollen, as also انحدر , by reason of beating: or became swollen and thick, by reason thereof.
4 حَدُرَتِ العَيْنُ, Verbal.Noun حَدَارَةٌ, The eye was, or became, large and wide: was, or became, beautiful.
