حَرَقَهُI , Present.T ـِ Verbal.Noun حَرْقٌ: see 4.

def.2 حَرَقَهُ, Present.T ـُ Verbal.Noun حَرْقٌ, He filed it: and he rubbed one part of it with another.
2 And hence, حَرَقَ نَابَهُ, Present.T ـُ and ـِ Verbal.Noun as above, He ground his dog-tooth, so that it made a grating sound: when said of a stallion-camel, denoting threatening: and, accord. to IDrd, when the like is said of a she-camel, it is asserted to denote a consequence of fatigue. And الأَسْنَانَ (K and TA in art. رعظ) He grated the teeth. One says, فُلَانٌ يَحْرُقُ عَلَيْكَ الأُرَّمَ غَيْظًا Such a one grinds together the ارّم [or teeth, or molar teeth, ] at thee [in anger, or rage], like one filing: or, as some say, الأُزَّمَ [the canine teeth]: and the verb is also used without the objective complement, because the meaning is understood. IDrd makes the act to be that of the canine tooth; saying, حَرَقَ نَابُ البَعِيرِ, meaning The canine tooth of the camel made a grating sound. AHát also mentions the saying, فُلَانٌ يَحْرُقُ نَابُهُ عَلَىَّ [Such a one's canine tooth makes a grating sound at me]: and Zuheyr uses the phrase يَحْرُقُ نَابُهُ عَلَيْهِ.
3 حَرْقٌ also signifies The act of eating to the uttermost.

def.3 حَرُقَ He was, or became, evil in disposition.

def.4 حَرَقٌ, as an Verbal.Noun, [i. e. of حَرِقَ,] signifies A garment's, or cloth's, being burnt by beating [with too much violence].
2 And The springing forth, or shooting forth, vehemently, of lightning.

def.5 حَرِقَ شَعَرُهُ, Present.T ـَ Verbal.Noun حَرَقٌ, His hair fell off piecemeal. [And حَرِقَتِ النَاصِيَةُ The forelock of the horse became thin, or scanty: for it is said that] الحَرَقُ in relation to the ناصية is like السَّفَا. And حَرِقَتِ اللِّحْيَةُ The beard was, or became, shorter upon the chin than upon the two sides of the face.

def.6 حَرِقَ, Present.T ـَ Verbal.Noun حَرَقٌ, His حَارِقَة [q. v.] became cut, or severed: said of a man: in speaking of a camel, حُرِقَ, like عُنِىَ, is more commonly used than حَرِقَ.
