Full Definition

حَرُمَI , Present.T ـُ Verbal.Noun حُرْمٌ and حُرُمٌ and حُرْمَةٌ and حِرْمَةٌ and حَرَامٌ, It was, or became, forbidden, prohibited, or unlawful, عَلَيْهِ to him. And حَرُمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ, Verbal.Noun حُرْمٌ and حُرُمٌ and حُرُومٌ; and حَرِمَت, Present.T ـَ Verbal.Noun حَرَمٌ [in the CK حَرْم] and حَرَامٌ; Prayer was, or became, forbidden, prohibited, or unlawful, عَلَيْهَا to her; namely, a woman menstruating. And حَرُمَ السَّحُورُ عَلَى الصَّائِمِ [The meal before daybreak was, or became, forbidden to the faster]. And حَرُمَتِ المَرْأَةُ عَلَى زَوْجِهَا, Present.T ـُ Verbal.Noun حُرْمٌ and حَرَامٌ, [The woman was, or became, forbidden to her husband.]

def.2 حَرَمَهُ الشَّىْءَ, Present.T ـِ; and حَرِمَهُ الشئ, Present.T ـَ; Verbal.Noun حَرِمٌ and حِرْمٌ and حَرِمَةٌ and حِرْمَةٌ and حِرْمَانٌ and حَرِيمَةٌ and حَرِيمٌ and مَحْرَمَةٌ; and الشئ, but this last is of weak authority; He denied him, or refused him, the thing; he refused to give him the thing: he rendered him hopeless of the thing: accord. to the T, حِرْمٌ signifies the act of denying or refusing [a thing]; and حِرْمَةٌ is the same as حِرْمَانٌ; which signifies [also the denying, or refusing, a thing; or] the rendering unprosperous, or unfortunate; [and frequently, as Verbal.Noun of the pass. v. حُرِمَ, the being denied prosperity; privation of prosperity; ill-fatedness: see its syn. حُرْفٌ.]

def.3 حَرِمَتْ, Present.T ـَ Verbal.Noun حِرَامٌ; and ; said of a female cloven-hoofed animal, She desired the male: accord. to El-Umawee, likewise said of a she-wolf and of a bitch: and sometimes also said of a she-camel: but mostly of a ewe or she-goat.
