حَمَّI , see. pers. حَمِمْتَ, Present.T حَمَمَ Verbal.Noun حَمٌّ, [or perhaps this should be حَمَمٌ,] It became hot.
2 حَمِمْتُ, Present.T حَمَمَ Verbal.Noun حَمَمٌ, I was, or became, أَحَمّ, signifying black; as also [originally اِحْمَوْمَمْتُ, or from حَمَى, q. v.], and , and . (K, TA: the last, in the CK, written تَحْمَمْتُ.)
3 حَمَّ الجَمْرُ, see. pers. حَمِمْتَ, Present.T حَمَمَ Verbal.Noun حَمَمٌ, The live coals became black, after their flaming had ceased, or after they had become extinguished: or حَمَّتِ الجَمْرَةُ, sec. pers. as above, Present.T حَمَمَ the live coal became a piece of charcoal, or of ashes.

5 حُمَّ He was, or became, fevered, or affected with fever; or he had, or was sick of, a fever: or one says [of himself], حُمِمْتُ حُمَّى, (K, TA, [in the CK, erroneously, حَمَمْتُ,]) حُمَّى being held by ISd to be an Verbal.Noun like بُشْرَى and رُجْعَى; and the simple subst. [also] is حُمَّى: [or the Verbal.Noun is حَمٌّ; for] you say, حُمِمْتُ حَمًّا; and the simple subst. is حُمَّى. And حُمَّ عَلَى طَعَامٍ He had a fever from eating [certain] food. And حمّ, [app. حُمَّ,] Verbal.Noun حُمَامٌ said of a camel, He had a fever. (TA. [See حُمَامٌ, below.])
6 حَمَّهُ said of an affair, an event, or a case: see 4.
7 حَمَّ ٱرْتِحَالَ, البَعِيرِ, Present.T حَمُمَ He hastened the going, or departure, of the camel.

def.3 حَمَّ لَهُ كَذَا, and , He decreed, or appointed, to him, or for him, such a thing. And حُمَّ, Verbal.Noun حَمٌّ, or حُمُومٌ, It was decreed, or appointed; as also . And حُمَّ لَهُ ذٰلِكَ That was decreed, or appointed, to him, or for him.
