Full Definition

حَمَارَّةٌ , a word of a rare form, of which the only other instances are said to be حَبَالَّةٌ and زَرَافَّةٌ and زَعَارَّةٌ and سَبَارَّةٌ and صَبَارَّةٌ and عَبَالَّةٌ, and sometimes حَمَارَةٌ , without teshdeed, in poetry, and in prose also, as is said by Lh and others, The intenseness of heat of summer; and so حَمْرَآءُ ; which also signifies the same in relation to the noon, or summer-noon; and حَمْرَى , (Az, TA in art. بيض,) and حِمِرٌّ : or the most intense heat of summer; as also حِمِرٌّ : and sometimes, though rarely, used in relation to winter [as signifying the intenseness of cold; like صَبَارَّةٌ]: pl. [or rather coll. gen. n.] حَمَارٌّ .
