خَوَتِI , Present.T تَخْوِى, Verbal.Noun خَوَآءٌ and خُوِىٌّ, The house became empty, vacant, or un occupied: in [some of the copies of] the S with teshdeed, [i. e. خَوَّت,] which is incorrect: or became devoid, or destitute, of its occu pants; as also خَوِيَت, Present.T تَخْوَى, Verbal.Noun خَوَآءٌ: or its occupants perished: and it fell down: or it became demolished: and خَوَت and خَوِيَت, Verbal.Noun خَىٌّ and خُوِىٌّ and خَوَآءٌ and خَوَايَةٌ, it became devoid, or destitute, of its occupants, standing, without inhabitant. And خَوَى المَكَانُ, Present.T يَخْوِى, Verbal.Noun خَىٌّ, The place became empty, vacant, or unoccupied. And خَوِىَ البَطْنُ, Present.T يَخْوَى, Verbal.Noun خَوًى, The belly became empty of food.
2 [Hence,] خَوِىَ, Present.T يَخْوَى, Verbal.Noun خَوًى [and خَوَآءٌ], He was, or became, hungry; as also : or his belly became empty of food: or خَوَى, like رَمَى, [Present.T يَخْوِى,] Verbal.Noun خَوًى and خَوَآءٌ, he was affected with un interrupted hunger. And خَوَتْ, said of a woman, She became empty in her belly on the occasion of childbirth; as also خَوِيَتْ: in [some of] the copies of the K, خَوَّتْ is here erroneously put for خَوِيَتْ. And She abstained from food on the occasion of childbirth; as also خَوِيَتْ.
3 خَوَتِ النُّجُومُ The stars inclined to setting: or so , Verbal.Noun تَخْوِيَةٌ. And the former, Present.T تَخْوِى, Verbal.Noun خَىٌّ, The stars set; as also : and the stars brought no rain: or the stars set aurorally and brought no rain; as also and .
4 خَوَى الزَّنْدُ, Verbal.Noun خَوًى [or خَىٌّ], The زند [q. v.] failed to produce fire; as also .
