Full Definition

خيّمII , Verbal.Noun تَخْيِيمٌ, [originally] He pitched his tent; (TA in art. رفض;) [like تخيّم: and hence,
2 ] He remained, stayed, dwelt, or abode, in a place; as also , Present.T يَخِيمُ: whence, in a trad., مَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ لَهُ الرِّجَالُ قِيَامًا [Whoso loveth that men should remain before him standing]; as some relate it; but others relate it differently, saying يَسْتَخِمَّ, and يَسْتَجِمَّ, as mentioned before [in arts. خم and جم]. He alighted, or descended and stopped or sojourned or abode, in a place; as also خَيَّفَ. (JK in art. خيف.) And خيّم الوَحْشِىُّ فِى كِنَاسِهِ The wild animal remained in his covert, not quitting it. And خَيَّمَتِ الرَّائِحَةُ, or الرِّيحُ الطَّيِّبَةُ, The odour, or sweet odour, remained; as also ; in a garment, and in a place.
3 خَيَّمُوا They entered into a خَيْمَة [q. v.].
