Full Definition

دَاوَيْتُهُIII , Verbal.Noun مُدَاوَاةٌ and دِوَآءٌ, the latter allowable, I treated him medically, curatively, or therapeutically; I cured him [مِنْ مَرَضِهِ of his disease]; بِالدَّوَآءِ [with the remedy]: and I tended him carefully, or treated him; syn. عَانَيْتُهُ; (K, TA; [in the CK, erroneously, عَايَنْتُهُ;]) namely, المَرِيضَ [the sick person]. You say, هُوَ يُدْوِىوَيُدَاوِى: see 4. And, of a person, or thing, دُووِىَ, without idghám, to distinguish between the measures فُوعِلَ and فُعِّلَ; meaning [He or] it was treated medically, &c.: and دُووِىَ بِأَدْوِيَةٍ [referring to hair] It was treated (عُونِىَ) with remedies, such as oils and the like.
2 And داوى فَرَسَهُ, Verbal.Noun دِوَآءٌ, with kesr to the د, He fattened his horse, and fed him with fodder that showed its effect upon him: or دَاوَيْتُ الفَرَسَ I tended the horse well; or took good care of him. [See also دَوَآءٌ.]
